Minnesota Library Association Legislative Forum

Monday, August 10

10:00 am - 12:00 pm; 1:00 - 2:30 pm CST

Morning Session: Education
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The morning session is geared to developing a foundation for library advocates.

Presentations include:
Minnesota Library Funding & Structures: The Role of the State with Maggie Snow, Minitex
Historical Overview of Legislation Affecting Libraries with Sam Walseth, Capitol Hill Associates
Update from State Library Services: What We’ve Learned About Libraries During COVID-19 with Jen Nelson, State Library Services

Afternoon Session: Developing Legislative Priorities - A Workshop

Come hear from each of the Minnesota Library Partners on their organization’s current issues, proposed legislative priorities, and advocacy plan for 2021. There will be time for discussion and questions. Ideally, attendees will leave this working session united behind what MLA/ITEM intends to advocate for at the 2021 Minnesota Legislative session and feel equipped to effectively advocate across library types.

Please note: Meeting links to join the morning and afternoon sessions will be sent to participants at 8:30 am CST on August 10.
