In accordance with CDC guidelines and our commitment to preventing the spread of COVID19, MLA board and event organizers have taken the unfortunate precaution of cancelling this event.
 
If have you already registered, our staff are developing methods for managing refund requests for the paid events. Look for an email with instructions on how to access your refund.  We are continuing to move forward with the MLA 2020 Conference October 1-2 in Duluth.

Meet Your Keynote Speaker

Dr. Arnoldo Curiel is responsible for developing and expanding programming in the areas of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity for Dakota County by working with internal stakeholders on the administration, development and deployment of diversity plans, ensuring their connectedness to county strategies and goals.

In addition, Dr. Curiel is the founder and lead consultant for T.A.G. Curiel Consultant and has served as the Vice President of Racial Justice Department at YWCA Minneapolis where he provided leadership, vision and represented them on racial equity and public policy related issues both locally and nationally.

Dr. Curiel has worked in higher education for over 10 years, most recently at the College of St. Scholastica, where he continues to adjunct for the Graduate Teaching Licensure program. He has served as the diversity training coordinator for the Minnesota Youth Work Institute, and managed the Weed and Seed program in St. Paul’s Frogtown Neighborhood, where he founded Shop with Cops, an annual innovative youth development project designed to foster positive relationships between youth and police officers.

His publications include “Doing the Right Thing: Ethical Development Across Diverse Environments,” published by Wiley Periodicals and “5 Minute Racism, Diversity, & Identity Activities”, published by Learning ZoneXpress

Dr. Curiel is the recipient of several awards, including the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Award, Saint Paul Police Department Chief’s Award, and Eleven Who Care. He is a graduate of Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Affairs from the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota and an Educational Doctorate from Hamline University.
