- Legislative advocacy in support of libraries. We actively work to influence legislation affecting libraries and librarians. Through MLA, you can improve your advocacy skills and support efforts to improve library service and funding in Minnesota. MLA’s professional lobbyist—shared with other Minnesota library organizations and supported by a large legislative network and an active legislative committee—keeps legislators informed of library needs and monitors and informs members about state and federal library issues. MLA sponsors state legislative activities, including an annual Legislative Day, and participates in national efforts in cooperation with other state and national library organizations.
