What’s an Unconference?
The Children and Young People’s Section of the Minnesota Library Association invites you to our first ever Unconference event. What’s an Unconference? It’s a conference where you help choose the sessions! We’ll hear from three marvelous Minnesota children’s librarians on their areas of expertise, and we’ll also hear from all of you! Propose a topic related to preschoolers and libraries (play, partnerships, favorite read-alouds, etc.) on our Facebook page or by emailing frances.veit_at_gmail.com. We’ll take a vote at the conference to decide which topics we want to tackle. This is a chance to share what we know best, and a place to ask questions and share ideas and best practices.
This year we’re focusing on preschoolers, but we hope there will be many future years of Unconferences to allow us to explore technology for kids, teen services, summer reading, and whatever topics are near and dear to you!
Who Should Attend?
This is a day of learning for anyone who cares about preschoolers and libraries. That includes children’s librarians, paraprofessionals, and those aspiring to work with kids in libraries!
What’s the deal with lunch? That’s up to you! Either select a deli lunch for $10, or bring your own meal from home.
This conference is totally FREE (unless you want in on the lunch; see above), but we do ask that you let us know you’re coming by registering. A certificate of attendance is available on request, but CEUs are not available for this event.
Want to carpool to the event? We’ve created a Google Doc to help you plan. Please note that coordinating of carpools is up to you and is entirely voluntary. A link to the carpooling spreadsheet is here.
